"Corporate-Wide" Online Activation Request

Fill out the form below, print, sign, and mail or fax!
This form is not for online submission

Please activate our "company-wide" online access to the Turfgrass Information File database (TGIF). This special logon is a part of the Sustaining CORPORATE subscription of:

Name of Corporation:

This special logon can be used by up to simultaneous users. It also permits unlimited, unmetered online use for each of the simultaneous users.. The corporation ’s primary "designated contact" will receive all information and mailings relating to this account, though we certainly hope the information will be distributed as appropriate within the institution.

Persons using the corporate-wide logon will need to be authenticated. You can choose one of the following methods (please indicate which alternative you choose to implement). We realize that implementation and structuring of corporate-wide account use will vary widely, typically require the cooperation of your IT unit, and also may change in the future. We strongly suggest you consult with your corporate library, IT department, etc., to identify what value below will work best for you in your context. Unless there are circumstances preventing both of these methods, please choose one of the two options below.

1. IP Address Range. You give us one or more range(s) of IP addresses. Your staff can access the system directly via the TIC logon screen (http://turf.lib.msu.edu) or via a direct URL which we can supply (see checkbox below). None of your users will need a login name or password. If you want to provide TIC access for off-site users, be sure to include the IP address ranges assigned to them in the list you provide, or if you operate a proxy server for this purpose, be sure to include its IP address.

List IP Ranges:

Check here if you would like a URL for TIC access which you may add to your web pages, etc. and which will work from all machines within the designated IP ranges identified above, given appropriate local permissions.

Any person at a computer whose IP address falls within the specified range can log on without entering a password.  It is fairly easy to implement and maintain, and permits use by a range of users who either use computers in a specific facility(ies) or whose use would be via specific machines.

2. Do-it-Yourself Authentication. You set up a page on your web site, and control the access to it. We give you a URL that will give access to TGIF. Anyone who can load the page you set up can logon to TGIF without entering a password. The nature of the controlled access to your page must be agreed to by us prior to implementation, and the control must limit use to staff of the corporation subscribing.

This authentication method is best for large scale business environments which operate secure intranets.  It requires up front coordination between systems staff within the corporation and the MSU Libraries; but once the setup is completed maintenance is minimal and access can be made available to whatever staff you permit, generally regardless of location.

Other options may be available. Please contact TIC to discuss.

Please call if you have any questions about this special online arrangement ‘logon’ and its potential use by your corporation.
