Abstract/Contents:Discusses the use of plant growth regulators (PGRs) as a potential way to suppress annual bluegrass growth and seedhead formation. Describes two experiments conducted at the Riverton Country Club in Riverton, New Jersey. Concludes that "applying Trimmit 2SC (paclobutrazol) frequently at low rates, 8 ounces/acre (0.58 liters/hectare) every three weeks, suppressed annual bluegrass at about the same level as higher rates, 24 and 32 ounces/acre (1.8 and 2.3 liters/hectare), applied twice in the spring and fall." Reports that "adding Primo (trinexapac-ethyl), whether tank-mixed or applied alone, to Trimmit programs did not enhance annual bluegrass suppression in creeping bentgrass fairways."
