Abstract/Contents:Profiles the annual bluegrass weevil (Listronotus maculicollis), "a major insect pest on golf courses in the metropolitan New York City area". Lists insecticides used in an attempt to control the pest, including "chlorpyrifos (Dursban) or one of the pyrethroids, such as bifenthrin (Talstar), cyfluthrin (Tempo), lambda-cyhalothrin (Battle or Scimitar) or deltamethrin (Deltagard)." Describes several cultural methods that may help minimize damage caused by the annual bluegrass weevil. Profiles entomopathogenic nematodes, especially Steinernema carpocapsae and Heterorhabditis bacteriophora, and describes how they may be used to eliminate the annual bluegrass weevil. States that investigations using these methods have shown promise, but will require further research.
