Abstract/Contents:Defines dormant seeding as "planting seed when soil temperatures are outside the normal range for germination." Presents a study conducted "to test the effects of dormant seeding on the establishment of two seeded bermudagrass cultivars." Notes that "seeding date had a significant effect on turfgrass coverage in both the 2004 and 2005 trials...[and] seeding rate only have a significant effect on turfgrass coverage for one evaluation date in 2004 and one in 2005." Reports that "dormant seeding of bermudagrass proved to be a successful means of establishing both Princess 77 and Riviera bermudagrass...Further research is needed to determine exactly how early in the year bermudagrass could be seeded and still provide acceptable results."

January 2007 issue of Golf Course Management includes correction: "In the October 2006 issue of GCM, there is an error in 'Dormant seeding: a new option for establishing bermudagrass' by Bradly Shaver; Mike Richardson, Ph.D.; John McCalla, Ph.D.; Doug Karcher, Ph.D.; and Pat Berger. On P. 94, in Figure 2, the second date from the left in the photo should be March 15, not May 15."
