Abstract/Contents:Presents research conducted to determine whether annual bluegrass (Poa annua) or creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris) golf greens are more expensive to maintain. Provides background information on the grasses and their maintenance on golf courses, focusing on mowing, rolling, and grooming. Details plant growth regulators, core aeration, sand topdressing, fertility, nutrition, irrigation, soil moisture, soil surfactants, weed suppression, insect control, and disease management. Includes tables depicting findings, and concludes that "as stated in the beginning of this article, there is no perfect grass, but golf is played on natural grass, and golfers and golf facilities are fortunate to have skilled, enthusiastic superintendents who are willing to dedicate themselves to green maintenance."
