Abstract/Contents: | Profiles Naperville Country Club in Naperville, Illinois, highlighting its renovation project. Explains that the course has "rerouted 11 of the golf holes; they're now in different locations on the golf course...all 18 greens and two practice greens to USGA [United States Golf Association] specs [specifications], all new sand-based tees, a new maintenance shop, which is in a different area of the golf course, and new parking lots [were rebuilt]." Discusses the process used to choose the turf at the course, explaining that the renovation team "did a lot of research...[receiving] input from [the] regional USGA agronomist, and locally...in Chicago there's a Midwest golf house that has one of the NTEP [National Turfgrass Evaluation Program] trials with a turfgrass variety selection...In the end, [the renovators] chose to go with A1 on the greens." Concludes that "greens [have been] mowed several times at the end of [the 2006] season, and A1 seems to be doing real well taking off and filling in." |
