Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to determine "the effectiveness of various pre- and post- emergence herbicides for annual bluegrass control in bermudagrass fairways when mitosis-inhibiting herbicides are no longer effective." Details the methods and materials used in the study, stating that "two separate studies were conducted on Tifway hybrid bermudagrass...fairways overseeded with perennial ryegrass." Reports that "mitosis-inhibiting herbicides...were not effective at controlling annual bluegrass at the study site. We hypothesize the repeated use of this herbicide mode of action has selected for a biotype of annual bluegrass resistant to mitosis-inhibiting herbicides." Concludes that "because of the limited options for annual bluegrass control programs should rotate herbicide modes of action to ensure the continued effectiveness of mitosis-inhibiting herbicides." |
