USGA Summary Points: | Firmness devices that applied more force were better correlated with moisture, color and visual quality whereas lower force devices were better correlated with surface organic matter. Higher annual sand application volume led to an increase in visual quality but a decrease in surface firmness and surface organic matter. Standard sized sand resulted in a slightly firmer surface than the finer sand despite the higher coefficient of uniformity of the finer sand. Application frequency (weekly vs. monthly) did not significantly influence turfgrass quality, soil moisture, or surface firmness. |
