Abstract/Contents: | Describes parents' and environmentalists' concerns about the use of pesticides on school grounds. The national PTA supports integrated pest management (IPM) strategies because they will reduce risk of disease from pesticide exposure and will save in costs for pesticide usage. However, the author suggests that parents and teachers may not be aware of the real requirements of integrated pest management, and suggests that turf professionals should be more involved in the process. Asks readers to get involved by submitting letters to the editor of local newspapers to make others aware of pesticide issues. |
