Abstract/Contents:"Twenty fungicides and fungicide mixtures were examined in field tests for their ability to control Rhizoctonia blight on 'SR1020' bentgrass. During the 5-week study, there were significant differences between fungicides treatments as well as difference[s] in overall treatment means. The lowest level of foliar blighting occured on Heritage .20z(14d), C13336 40z(14d), CGA27902 .2oz(14d), CGA2790 .1oz +Banner 1.0oz (21d) Daconil WS 4.12oz(14d). The field inoculation test we used for Rhizoctonia blight control evaluations indicator measured the tendency of fungal mycelium to grow on fungicide treated foliage. The method used infested rye grain as a point source for inoculation which means the mycelium must grow naturally from leaf to leaf in order to continue infection. Disease pressure varied during this trial due to unusually hot temperatures and little rainfall (1.56") and mean temperatures (81.8 F) during the trial period in May and June. Temperature highs reached over 95F fifteen days of the trial, supplemental irrigation was provided to help promote disease activity."
