Abstract/Contents: | States that "although it is widely acknowledged that pest resistance is an important problem that can lead to serious turf damage, programs to avoid resistance are rarely implemented on golf courses". Lists factors that create high risk for development of resistance, including perennial crops, pest complexes, stress, preventative programs, lack of independent information sources, and lack of proven benefits and guidelines for resistance management. Also lists factors that decrease the likelihood of resistance, such as emphasis on cultural management practices, diverse spectrum of pesticide products, and availability of broad spectrum products. Concludes with short term solutions provided by the PACE Turfgrass Research Institute. |
