States that two greens on each course "were selected by the greenkeeper as the 'best' green (considered least susceptible to disease) and the 'worst' green (considered most susceptible to disease)...[and] moisture content, grass species, composition of the greens, thatch depth, maximum and average rooting depths, volumetric moisture content, pH, organic matter content, bulk density and soil texture were measured by standard methods." Results indicate that "Microdochium patch (Microdochium nivale (Fr.)) was the most common disease followed by dollar spot (Sclerotinia homoeocarpa (F.T. Bennett))." Discusses possible prevention and treatment of diseases and concludes that "disease forecasting, which assesses the environmental conditions and produces a 'risk' of infection could be helpful in the current situation in the Netherlands and as part of an integrated pest management program. When the risk is predicted to be very high, extra vigilance may detect the symptoms of disease at an earlier stage. Fungicide application at this early stage would improve control of the disease."
