Abstract/Contents:Discusses testing of wetting agents to reduce the amount of dew moisture retained on the leaves of warm-season turfgrasses and "summarizes the results of three trials undertaken in South Africa using wetting agents to reduce the impact of dew in day/night cricket matches." States that Bermudagrass (Cynodon transvaalensis Burtt davy, variety Harrismith), kikuyu (Pennisetum clandestinum Hochst. ex Chiov), and Bereagrass (Dactyloctenium australe (Rbr.) Beauv) were tested. States that "the chemicals were applied in the afternoons to 1 m x 1.5 m plots using a knap-sack spray in Trial 1 and a compressed air driven spray gun in Trials 2 and 3." Concludes that Supawett and Turfwet were "extremely effective in preventing the accumulation of moisture on the leaves of warm-season turfgrasses" and states that "none of the chemicals used produced any noticeable phytotoxic effects at the levels of application tested."
