Abstract/Contents: | States that "the 'conventional' wisdom...that grub control with nematodes does not work and [costs] way too much" is "wrong and wrong." Discusses the importance of selecting the right species of nematode and cites "UV light"; "soil moisture levels"; "soil texture"; and "soil temperature" as the abiotic factors that have the greatest effect on "nematode viability", adding that "soil pH has very little effect." Lists application rules and information on nematode/pesticide compatibility. States that using parasitic nematode for grub control, as compared to other methods, is "environmentally friendly", provides a "high degree of application safety," and "re-entry time, residues, groundwater contamination, chemical trespass and pollinators are not an issue." |
