Abstract/Contents: | Discusses pollution and the environment, suggesting one "look at the contribution turf makes in improving and protecting [the] environment." States that "green plants...provide the base for a food chain." Describes how "plants take polluting gases from the air and liberate pure oxygen." Explains that one-half of the carbon dioxide produced each year "remains in the atmosphere to become incorporated into the roots, stems and leaves of green plants through the process of photosynthesis." Discusses other air pollutants that are products of fuel combustion. Concludes that golf course greenery "serves the entire community by enhancing the quality of the environment." |
