Abstract/Contents: | Discusses ground covers as alternatives to turfgrasses. States that "they can offer a low maintenance alternative in certain situations, particularly with proper plant selection, establishment and care." Describes a study conducted to evaluate the "influence of herbicides on establishment of nine ground covers commonly grown in Nebraska." Details one ground cover, Veronica repens. States that "Casaron, Glean, and Princep caused the greatest herbicide injury on Veronica repens. Dacthal, Treflan, and Ronstar caused the least injury when compared to the control." Concludes that "charcoal dipping was effective in reducing herbicide injury, making the use of Princep, Glean and Ronstar more feasible for weed supression during ground cover establishment." |
