Abstract/Contents: | In field-plot tests in England in 1981, sprays of fenpropathrin were applied at 3 rates (75, 150 and 300 g a.i./ha) at 5-week intervals to swards of Italian ryegrass [Lolium multiflorum] for the control of Abacarus hystrix (Nal.), the vector of ryegrass mosaic virus (RMV). The results showed that such treatment greatly reduced the number of mites when applications began on 17 March. Effectiveness apparently increased with application rate. There was no significant reduction in the level of RMV or increase in herbage yield following treatment; however, this was not unexpected as infection rates were high prior to treatment. |
