Abstract/Contents:Presents a study conducted to determine a relationship between spring turfgrass color and nitrate (NO3-N) concentrations. Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "main effects were date of N [nitrogen] application (October or November) and subplots were N application rates which consisted of 8 rates...for year 1, and 13 rates...for year 2." reports that "across the 2-yrs [years], critical verdure NO3-N concentrations above which cpring color did not increase, were found for the November and December sampling of October fertilized plots, and for the November fertilized plots, sampled in December." Concludes that "these data suggest the potential verdure tissue NO3-N concentrations to predict spring color. Therefore, verdure NO3-N might serve as a guide for fall fertilization recommendations."
