Fall 2022 Update:

During the Fall 2022 semester, there are several routes to get in touch with the Turfgrass Information Center.

  • The department will be open to the public Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9am-5pm.

Abstract/Contents:Profiles Southland smooth bromegrass "developed by the Department of Agronomy, Oklahoma Agr. [Agronomy] Exp. [Experiment] Sta. [Station], Stillwater, Okla. [Oklahoma]." States that "the plants of Southland are rather coarse, broad-leaved, and heavy-stemmed, with vigorous rhizomes, otherwise they are rather variable." Lists potential advantages of this grass, including "higher yielding capacity, greater seedling vigor and somewhat greater resistance to leaf diseases as compared to other southern varieties."
