Abstract/Contents: | Discusses possible methods for increasing water efficiency. States that "the U.S. [United States] Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is addressing the future of the nation's water supply and believes the landscaping and irrigation community can play a key role in ensuring that supply is sustained." Mentions WaterSense "launched...in 2006, [is] a partnership and labeling program to identify high-performance, water-efficient products and services." Suggests possible benefits of completing a WaterSense labeled certification program. Lists types of certifications, including Certified Irrigation Designer (CID) Certified Irrigation Contractor (CIC), Certified Golf Irrigation Auditor (CGIA), and Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA). Explains that "as a labeling program, WaterSense aims to transform the marketplace by pointing consumers and professionals toward products that save water without compromising performance. To earn the WaterSense label, products must be certified by independent, third-party laboratories to use water more efficiently than conventional models while offering equal or superior performance." |
