| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to test "environmental suitability and aesthetical visual qualities of different seed-propagated bermudagrass and zoysiagrass cultivars of foreign origin." Details methods and materials used in the study, stating that "twelve seed propagated bermudagrass cultivars...and four seed propagated zoysiagrass cultivars...were compared in a randomized complete block design with four replicates and a plot area of 1.5 m2 [square meters]...Cultural practices included two fertilizations (May and July) with Nitrophoska gold (15-9-15), each with a rate of 60 kg [kilograms] ha-1 [per hectare] N [nitrogen], 36 kg ha-1 P2O5 and 60 kg ha-1 K2." Reports that "mean monthly growth height...showed significant differences among tested cultivars; within C. dactylon species, 'Princess' showed the lowest growth, equal to 54 mm [millimeters] (mean of 2002-2004 years), compared to the other cultivars; lower growth values for this variety were also observed in the single years compared (2002-2004) of research." Concludes that "the results obtained from this experimentation, highlighted good environmental adaptation of the compared species and cultivars, particularly for turf quality and green cover percentage." |
