Abstract/Contents: | Discusses soil testing, suggesting that "the soil test is an important measure of the soil's ability to supply nutrient elements needed for good plant growth." Lists soil sampling techniques, including to "remove the top debris, residue, or turf thatch from the soil before taking the sample"; "sample gardens, shrubs, and flower beds 6 to 8 inches"; and "sample turf areas to a 3-inch depth." Recommends that "a soil test once every 3 years is adequate. Sample more often if a closer check on soil fertility levels is wanted." Also lists available tests, including the "turf and garden test"; "greenhouse test"; "standard test"; and "standard test plus bases." |
