Abstract/Contents: | Presents a brief history of golf course architecture in outline form with specific mention of golf course architects: Alan Robertson (1815-1859), Tom Morris (1821-1908), Willie Park Jr., H.S. Colt, W.H. Fowler, J.F. Abercromby, and Charles Blair Macdonald. Three of Canada's contributions to golf architecture are listed: 1) Five major Canadian clubs, 2) Architect Charles Blair Macdonald known as the Father of American Golf Architecture, and 3) Stanley Thompson, first architect to introduce strategic design in North America. |
