Abstract/Contents: | Discusses research conducted to test the "hypothesis that black layer was an accumulation of metal sulfide." States that "a survey of naturally occuring black layers from putting greens at 26 golf courses located in Michigan and Ohio was conducted." Concludes from the research that "black layer was an accumulation of metal sulfide produced by dissimilatory reduction of sulfate (SO42-) or elemental sulfur (S0) in response to low redox potential." |
