Abstract/Contents: | "Due to increasing regulation of water, irrigation restrictions which reduce irrigation flexibility and increase the intervals between irrigations, have become routine in the USA. Reduction in irrigation has been associated with impaired turf performance and more nonuniform wetting fronts resulting in soil water repellency and reduced efficiency of irrigation (Cisar et al. 2000; McCarty 2010). Sandy soils are prone to soil water repellency and have little ability to hold water making rain and irrigation less effective. There has been no investigation on the relationship of soil water repellency impacts, such as impaired soil water retention and availability, and lawn performance in the USA. The objective of this research was to compare an experimental surfactant amended fertilizer, a fertilizer, and a non-fertilized control for their effect on soil water availability, time to wilting, and turfgrass quality." |
