Abstract/Contents: | Briefly presents a study on the performance of Buchloe dactyloides in poor water conditions. Indicates the material and methods employed, stating that "similar sized ramets...connected by uniform length of stolons were grown in two partitioned similar-sized containers to experience the sam or different water supply...[the] following measurements were taken: [biomass], primary stolon length, number, weight, and node numbers." Reports that "root mass did not respond to the variation in water supply...[and] heterogeneous treatments produced more biomass than homogeneous treatments." Concludes that "the initial hypothesis was...confirmed in this experiment. Thus, the ecological adaptation strategy of Buchloe dactyloides to water-poor conditions is to develop storage organ-stolons."" |
