Abstract/Contents: | Presents a report on research conducted at the University of Missouri on the development of Justus, a six clone synthetic variety of orchardgrass. Briefly mentions the methods used in developing Justus, highlighting phenotypic recurrent selection, grazing trials, replicated pasture trials, and laboratory analysis. Reports that "average daily gains for Justus were higher than the checks for each of the three years [in study.] Significantly less infection by the stem rust pathogen on Justus contributes to its improved animal performance." |
