Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted in Tucson, Arizona during 1967-68 to evaluate the effectiveness of several herbicides for the control of khakiweed (Alternanthera repens). Details materials and methods used during the experiment, noting that "herbicides were applied broadcast with a K-10 floodjet nozzle in 40 gallons per acre of water to plots 18 by 110 feet." Reports that "two diuron treatments gave 90% control of established khakiweed and complete control of seedlings." Concludes that "established khakiweed can be controlled by repeated, broadcast applications of dicamba, diuron, or MSMA [monosodium acid methanearsonate]." Provides a table that illustrates control percentages for each treatment. |
