Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the appearance of diseases due to heat and humidity and addresses its implications on sports field managers. Explains that for diseases "the time until infection depends on agent type and number, plant-host sites, and the prevailing heat and moisture condition." Stresses the potential importance of choosing a correct method of disease control and application time, indicating that "a manager...can locally observe weather variables, such as temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, and leaf wetness to anticipate a disease event and ensure the proper timing of a control measure." Concludes that "knowing the potential for an outbreak is essential for controlling...[gray leaf spot] in turf." |
