Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the implementation of a "benchmark infield," a set of standards with which all infields within a town might be compared. Provides such a benchmark, listing several infield traits that every infield should potentially possess. Suggests that "comparing any infield to these criteria can help maintenance personnel identify potential problem areas. Once identified and corrected, a proactive strategy can be developed to minimize their reoccurrence." Highlights infield construction and design, lip management, crowning, elevation, drainage, pitching distance, dugout areas, among other facets of infield management. |
