Abstract/Contents:Evaluated commercial and experimental fungicides for preventive control of dollarspot, brown patch, and pythium in 3 separate trials on a bentgrass green during spring and summer 1987. In all trials, single or combination fungicide treatments (3 or 4 replications) were applied followed by inoculation with dollarspot (Sclerotina homeocarpa), Rhizoctonia spp., or Pythium aphanidermatum. Disease occurrence was rated 7 and 14 or 21 days after fungicide application. Fungicides, application rates, and relative disease severity (accounts for performance of treated plot compared to paired untreated check) with least significant difference values (p<0.05) are provided in tables. Vorlan 50WP (1 oz. a.i./ 1000 sq. ft. (M)) + Fungo 50WP (1 oz. a.i./M), Vorlan 50WP (1 oz. a.i./M), SAN 712F 100EC (0.21 oz. a.i./M), SAN 619F40WG (0.04 oz. a.i./M), and S-1555 (0.14 oz. a.i./M) controlled dollarspot most effectively. Several fungicides provided significant control of brownpatch. All fungicides and combinations except Tersan SP were effective in controlling pythium at 7 days after treatment while Subdue 2E, Banol, and Subdue MZ-77 plus Banol were the best fungicides at 14 days after treatment. All Subdue products had some control of pythium. Phytotoxicity was not reported for any of the treatments.
