| Abstract/Contents: | "The article reveals that water can cause considerable difficulties when earth and soil movements are concerned and when water is not available in the quantities required. More attention must be paid to water in the future than previously thought by architects and civil engineers. The top soil is also subject to the laws of soil mechanics. The analysis of the site concerned, the investigation of the building ground and the examination of the top soil before tenders are invited, will permit a proper calculation of the building cost and the time required." |
