| Abstract/Contents: | Presents research conducted at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst "to evaluate sulfosulfuron (Certainty), a sulfonylurea herbicide, for selective control of Cyperus esculentus and other broadleaf weeds." Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "six different experiments were conducted over the last seven years." Reports that "these treatments resulted in 50 to 85% control of Agrostis palustris (creeping bentgrass) and gave 20 to 70% control of Trifolium repens (white clover)." Concludes that "our results demonstrate that sulfosulfuron is effective in controlling yellow nutsedge and would provide an alternative control practice in turfgrass areas." |
