Abstract/Contents: | Presents research conducted at the University of Georgia "to determine the influence of NH4+:NO3- [the ratio of ammonium to nitrate] on creeping bentgrass rooting and shoot growth." Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "ratios of 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75, 0:100 [ammonium to nitrate] were maintained in sand culture in the greenhouse after sodding with washed creeping bentgrass sod." Reports that "root weight was highest at 25:75 but root length best at 50:50." Concludes that "this was a preliminary study and a more detailed investigation will be conducted." |
