Abstract/Contents: | Explains effects of dehydration on plants. Shows 2 different ways to stop this. First, it is advantageous for the plant to conserve water by having the stomata closed. Second, is protein synthesis in the plant to raise the level of abscisic acid (ABA). Dehydrins are discussed. Thanks to the donation of Ken and Yasuko Myer, support will be given to the fellowship for the next three years. This will go to investigating novel aspects of the responses of crop plants to water shortages. |
