Abstract/Contents: | Cultivation of golf greens will improve the soil-air-water relationships and promote deeper, more efficient root systems resulting in more easily managed, healthy, and wear-resistant turfgrass. Soil compaction is detrimental to healthy turf and is intensified when traffic--foot or vehicular--is permitted on wet soil, especially soil that is in the process of thawing in late winter or early spring. Cultivation of turfgrass is accomplished by spiking, slicing, or coring. A combination of devices and techniques provide best results. method for your greens. Also presented are some advantages to cultivation that is performed at the right time. |
