Abstract/Contents:1989 test to evaluate several commercial and experimental pre- and post-emergent herbicides, alone or in combination, on postemergent control of crabgrass in an established Adelphi and Kenblue Kentucky bluegrass turf. In late March the area was vertically mowed, raked and seeded with crabgrass. Initial treatments were applied on June 8 when the crabgrass had reached a 2 to 4 leaf stage. Later treatments were applied on July 20 when the crabgrass was at a 3 to 4 tiller stage. A total of twenty-three treatments were applied to individual 6 foot by 10 foot plots in three replications. The area was maintained at 1.5 inches and irrigation was provided only as necessary to prevent dormancy. Tables provide % crabgrass control on 6/29, 7/27 and 8/31 for herbicides applied at 3 leaf stage and on 8/31 for herbicides applied at 3-tiller stage. Herbicides, herbicide combinations, formulations, and application rates are also provided. MON 15104, 1EC, at 0.75 #ai/A gave best control at 3-leaf stage while Acclaim 1EC, at 0.25 #ai/A gave best control at 3-tiller stage.
