Abstract/Contents:	1986 update of two tests, which are part of the National Perennial Ryegrass Variety Test and are maintained near Lexington, KY for evaluating experimental and named cultivars. Test 1, established 9/82, includes 48 cultivars. Seeding rate is 5.5 pounds per 1000 square feet and three pounds of nitrogen per 1000 square feet have been applied annually in the fall and early winter. The mowing height is maintained at 1.5 inches. A table provides 1983-86 annual and 4-year average visual quality ratings (1 to 9; 9=best quality) with a least significant difference value for 1986. 4-year average ratings ranged form 3.4 (Linn) to 6.7 (Tara and Gator). Test 2, established 9/86, evaluates 3 replications of 66 varieties. No data was collected for 1986.
