Abstract/Contents: | "Lowell Stone has golf course genes. The Central Valley where Stone works is scattered with relatives working for different country clubs. The Superintendent of the Stockdale Country Club in Bakersfield hails from a family full of superintendents, and the tradition is already being passed to future generations." Stone is an active member of the Central California GCSA, and has held about every office except secretary. He is currently a director of the association. Getting through the hot summers is always the major challenge at Stockdale CC. Any superintendent with grass still on the greens come September figures he's a success. " Stone believes that teamwork is the key to effective people-management." As a result, he has had very little turnover in his staff. |
