Abstract/Contents: | "Four vegetatively propagated clones of saltgrass (Distichlis) were established during the summer of 1990 and mowed for two years afterwards at 3½ inches when reaching a height of 4½ inches. Differences existed among clones for color, green up and seed head density and percent cover throughout the test. Distichlis received very little supplemental irrigation during this test, noting that leaf tissue remained green and relatively unwilted from 3-6 weeks without irrigation, based on environmental conditions. An optimal irrigation scheme needs to be devised for Distichlis turf, if it is to be used potentially as a mowed ground cover." |
