Abstract/Contents: | "The life tables of three grass grub species, Metabolus tumidifrons, Maladera assamensis and Serica orientalis were established, based on systematic observations of the natural populations of the species. The accumulated survival rates of the three populations over their life cycles were estimated as 2.2%, 4.6% and 3.8% respectively. All the three species share a similar life span of one year and a similar development progress, with larva 3 stage being the longest (228~233 days) and having the highest mortality. The finite rates of population increase (λ) were 1.0014, 1.0004, and 1.0011 (approximately equal to 1), indicating the populations were stable." |
