Abstract/Contents: | "This paper looks at the effects of simulated acid rain on seed-breeding in V. zizanioides at range of pH levels on chlorophyll content, photosynthesis rate (Pn), transpiration rate (Tr) and water use efficiency (WUE). The results showed acid rain caused an obvious decrease in chlorophyll content, especially when acid rain had a pH below 3.5. Pn, Tr and WUE increased with increasing PAR. pH 3.5 was shown to be the critical level at which effects on Pn, Tr and WUE of seed-breeding V. zizanioides became serious, that is, when the pH was 3.5 or below, the effect was far more obvious than when the acid rain's pH was higher. All the parameters recorded their lowest measurements when the pH was lower than 1.5. At this pH V. zizanioides could not recuperate among all the disposal. And others could recuperate very well." |
