Abstract/Contents:"Amine salt of 2, 4-D 1 ½ and 2 ½ lb/A; 2,4-D (isodyl ester) granular formulations 2 lb/A; silvex (isodul [isodyl] ester) 1 /12 lb/A; banvel D (dimethlyamine salt of 2-methoxy-3, 6-dichlorobenzioc acid) emulsifiable concentrate 2 lb/A, banvel D 2 lb/A granular formulation; and a combination of amine salts of 2,4-D 1 ½ lb/A and Banvel D. Emulsifiable Concentrate 2 lb/A were compared for effectiveness in removing Lamium amplexicalue, Plantago lanceolata, Plantago major, Plantago rugelii, Polygonum aviculare, Stellaria media, Taraxcum officinale and Trifolium repens from Turf. Plantago major and Plantago rugelii were the most resistant species. Polygonum aviculare was particularly susceptible to Banvel D. Silvex and Banvel D appeared to be equal in effectiveness in removing Lamium amplexicaule, Stellaria media, and Trifolium repens. Granular formulations of Banvel D appear to be equally as effective as liquid formulations, due possible to root absorption. Rates of Banvel D above 1 lb/A may cause injury to certain species of trees and shrubs with roots in treated areas. Only the combination of 2,4-D and Banvel D gave a complete kill of all broadleaved species."
