Abstract/Contents: | "Two growth regulators, mefluidide, and BAS 106 OOW were applied at various rates to test the growth retardation and phytotoxicity on Kentucky 31 tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.), Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.), and Midiron bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon L.). Temperature extremes caused early dormancy in blue-grass which did not compete with weeds. BAS 106 OOW at 3.4 kg/ha on Kentucky bluegrass was the only treatment that had significantly more growth reduction than the control during conditions of environmental stress. However, as temperatures and moisture became more favorable for growth BAS 106 OOW at 3.4, 5, and 3.4 plus 1.7 kg/ha rates on bermudagrass had significantly greater growth suppression, as well as the 3.4 plus 1.7 kg/ha on tall fescue. No phytotoxicity damage was observed with either chemical." |
