Abstract/Contents:"From October into December, the most frequent set of questions I get is 'Can I seed turfgrass now? Is it too late? Does winter seeding have an advantage to spring seeding?' The answer to all of these questions is a qualified 'YES'. There is no doubt that early fall seeding is the best time of year to establish the cool-season species. Spring seeding is usually recommended as the second best time. So that makes winter dormant seeding the third best time, usually. But, if you want to avoid the potential problems of seeding too late in the spring, winter seeding has a distinct advantage." Factors include: personal time available, spring rain, summer annual weeds and diseases.
