Abstract/Contents: | In a comparison of Bandane [polychlorodicyclopentadiene isomers] at 38.5 lb, bensulide at 14 lb, benfluralin at 1.5 lb and chlorthal dimethyl, siduron and terbucarb each at 10 lb/acre, chlorthal dimethyl tended to be slightly more effective against crabgrass [Digitaria sp.], foxtail [Setaria sp.] and sandbur [Cenchrus sp.] than the other herbicides. All compounds gave better control of annual monocotyledons than of prostrate knotweed [Polygonum aviculare] and prostrate spurge [Euphorbia supina]. In general, formulating the compounds with fertilizer tended to enhance herbicidal activity. |
