Abstract/Contents: | "The experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of low temperature on the resistant physiology in Zoysia matrella and Z. japonica. The results showed that the contents of soluble sugar, soluble protein, proline and MDA was increased in the two turfgrass species, and the activities of SOD, POD and CAT in the leaves of the two species were increased. However, Z. matrella had higher contents of soluble sugar and proline, and performed the stronger activities of SOD and CAT than the other turfgrass, so it grew better than Z. japonica under low temperature stress. It was also found that low temperature notably affected contents of carotenoid (Car), chlorophyll a (Chla), and chlorophyll b (Chlb) and ratio of Chla to Chlb. The content of ABA and the ratio of ABA to (GA3+IAA+ZR) in the leaves of the two species increased under low temperature. The contents of IAA and ZR increased under 10°C, but decreased under 0°C." |
