Abstract/Contents: | Mixtures of 2,4-D + dicamba in a 4:1 ratio at 1, 0.5 and 0.2 lb/acre of 2,4-D +- Foamex foam additive at 0.5% by volume were applied to Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis) turf on 17 August and 28 September using flat-fan (8 004 Spraying Systems) or air-induction (D-4 Delavan) nozzles. Predominant weeds were Trifolium repens and Plantago spp. The August application gave better control than the lower one. The addition of Foamex did not affect weed control resulting from the August application but showed a definite advantage in September. The flat-fan nozzle gave better control of T. repens than the air-induction nozzle but no difference was found in Plantago control. This last result was probably due to differences in leaf morphology. |
