Abstract/Contents: | "'OKC1876' turf bermudagrass is an interspecific F1 hybrid (Cynodon dactylon x C. transvaalensis) released by the Oklahoma Agricultural Experiment Station in 2022. The grass was tested in multiple environments, especially in the 2019 NTEP National Bermudagrass Test. The grass has substantial improvements in drought resistance, late season green color retention, and reduced seedheads. This grass combines high turf quality, deep green color and fine leaf blades, excellent establishment characteristics, good traffic tolerance, and sufficient sod-tensile strength for reliable sod production. Since it is sterile 'OKC1876' is only capable of being propagated by vegetative reproduction (i.e., sod, sprigs, and plugs). It is sold only as a certified turf bermudagrass from licensed producers. It can be used on residential lawns, commercial properties, sports fields, and golf courses in warmer environments in the southern states." |
