Abstract/Contents: | A total of 8188 soil samples were examined between 1973 and 1982 for pH, P, K and Mg. Phosphate tended to be over-applied: 34% of the sports field samples and 40% of golf course samples showed high levels. K was low in 61% of sports field samples and 80% of golf course samples; Mg was low in 66% and 76%, respectively. About half the samples were within the recommended pH range. Samples with low pH more commonly came from golf courses while high pH was commoner in sports fields. Comparison of averages between the first and second five-year periods showed no general differences. NPK ratios are given which are appropriate for different annual levels of N. |
